VALKYRIE - SELF-TITLED
Album Review:
By: John Pegoraro, Stoner Rock

Those prematurely old souls in Valkyrie have finally released their debut full length and it’s a doozy.

This is an impressive debut. I could see these guys on a tour with the likes of The Hidden Hand and Earthride and holding their own. Great stuff (especially the solos).

STARCHILD - BORN INTO ETERNITY
Album Review:
By: Kevin McHugh, Hell Ride Music

As groundbreaking as their first album was, even the Ramones couldn't make the exact same album over and over again. Nor should they. Starchild has expanded their palette without forgetting what made them great in the first place. What did Waycross ever do to deserve a band like this?

MALEFACTOR - A COLLECTION OF BROKEN DREAMS FROM THE COMMON MAN
Album Review:
By: John Pegoraro, Stoner Rock

A Collection of Broken Dreams' thirteen songs jump out and reach for the throat. One of the better tracks is "Bloodsoaked Cage," and it’s a good example of why you should check out Malefactor. While the tempo is as-fast-as-can-be, the main riff is actually grooving. A less adept band would have everything fall into the same frantic speed, but guitarists Garrett Spell and DJ Reeves create a cool dynamic. Other highlights are "Failure," with its fluid bass playing, and the start-stop stomp of "Wither."

STARCHILD / REBREATHER SPLIT EP
Album Review:
By: Kevin McHugh, Hell Ride Music

This is one of the most monstrously heavy releases of the year, by two bands who routinely level cities with an intensity not seen since the Viking days of yore.

It's easy to see why so many people think that Rebreather lives very close to the heart of the heavy. It looks to me like Starchild are camped out in the same general neighborhood. Don't even bother to try to fight the power, just give in end get what is sure to be one of the year's best discs. It's the right thing to do.
